Meet our youngest Ambit child volunteer! :D

Francis Joseph is our youngest, cutest, cuddliest Ambit child volunteer!!! Within his first 24 hour of cuteness with that campaign banner, Joseph has already raised 400 notebooks! Isn't that amazing? Ambit is not just spreading the ripple effect of love and kindness but also baby cuteness :) There is no doubt that just like his manang ang manong children volunteers, Thomas, Gabriel, Jabez, Jhaeanne and Abby, Baby Joseph will soon find his way to the mountains of Sipalay reading storybooks to his fellow children. Looking forward to that day Joseph!



 

Welcome Aboard Thomas!

Thomas, his mom and dad and little sister are living in Thailand. But as a Filipino with a burning passion to help others Thomas started collecting coins in his piggy bank early last year having in mind the notebooks that he would be contributing for the children in the South of Negros. We at Ambit can't wait to see Thomas's dreams turning into a reality this coming May as we distribute at least 10,000 notebooks to our two adopted villages. One child like Thomas making sacrifices could certainly go miles and miles for those children who could hardly even get their hands on some decent school supplies. Eight notebooks for each child, one full year in school, a future that now looks a lot brighter. Thank you Tom-Tom for taking part! How blessed we are to have you with us! 

Welcome to our Children Volunteers Corner, Jabez and Jhaeanne!

They may be small, but they've got hearts big enough to love and be there for their fellow children. Jabez and Jhaeanne took it upon themselves to start their own campaign for notebooks so that they too can share in the 10,000 notebooks target by the end of April. May they be blessed even more and may the good Lord usher them to a bright future so that they can continue their works of love and mercy.

Volunteer Heart in Hong Kong

 Flocel is our volunteer based in Hong Kong. In spite of her busy schedule as a Filipino working in a foreign land, she manages to find time for our Ambit notebook campaign almost on a daily basis. She shares, "It is a privilege to share a little of what I have. Life used to be hard and now working abroad has given  me a chance to donate to those less fortunate children."

Aside from her personal contribution for the notebook drive, dear Flocel took it upon herself to share with her fellow OFWs our advocacy, gather their donations, send our Ambit core group the updates and sends the amount in full to us.

"I hope that in the future Ambit will succeed in reaching out more children  to achieve their goal. I expect Ambit will continue to support not only by giving children the notebook but tirelessly encourage them to aim high and know that education is their best tool to succeed."

Ambitanay sa Dubai

 One of our avid Ambit volunteers, Odessa, working in Dubai recently chanced upon a good old friend and classmate in high school, Marejo. And guess what, they didn't just share updates about their lives, what happened in between years after they graduated from high school ... they also got to share about Odessa's Ambit advocacy. It's not every day that you go out for some errands, bump into an old friend and receive 300 notebooks donation! Kindness creating waves of more kindness, generosity, charity, excitement to take part and be part of a greater change. Thank you beautiful young ladies sa inyo pagpa-Ambit!

We are going to the far-flung villages in the South of Negros this may after election to distribute notebooks to the less fortunate children whose parents could hardly afford to send them to school simply because they cannot buy them notebooks. In order for us to give to the preschool, elementary and high school students of Brgy Sanke in Hinobaan and Sitio Su-su in Sipalay, we would need to raise at least 8,000 notebooks.

6,492 on our second week of notebook campaign!

On our second week of notebook campaign we have now reached 6,492! What made this year's notebook distribution extra special, is the fact that the ones who send us their pledges are also offering to help spread the campaign and the Ambit advocacy. The ripple effect, the epidemic of love and kindness I have been talking about continues to spread. Nothing can be more encouraging that waking up to your inbox and reading messages that say: "How can we help in your campaign?" It is a clear manifestation of God's power working in the hearts of those who know Him. 

How Far Can Your P10 Go?

Every start of the school year, a child in a public school in the Philippines would need eight notebooks. In depressed and poor areas in the country, this need is already hard to meet as food and survival would be the priority of parents and guardians. We believe that if we are able to provide notebooks for these children, it can be an epitome of change. This is not just about doling out notebooks. It is about helping these children find their dreams and reach for it.

It is not all the time that a ten-peso worth notebook can create much difference to the life of a child and even to the community! Take part now and share this endeavor to your friends…

4,855 notebooks on our 10th day of campaign!

Two weeks more for us to complete the number of notebooks needed for us to distribute to our beloved brgys. We are now halfway to reaching our target and all this will be impossible without you are beloved donors and volunteers. This is the magic of Filipino spirit, our bayanihan spirit, that keeps things going. Job well done everyone! Let us all keep going!

We Have A Venue!

For a few weeks now Gabriel has been working nonstop on his paintings bearing in mind that his sacrifices would mean a priceless gift for the children in Sipalay and Hinobaan. As his mother I take pride in the fact that at his tender age, he is already taking it upon himself to affect change in the society. When he inquired about the possibilities of him holding an art exhibit, I didn't wait a second in explaining to him the mechanics, the sacrifices that he's going to make, and that the only consolation would be to see the faces of his fellow children lighting up while receiving their notebooks. We have been praying each night that God will provide us with the venue for the exhibit. Since it's going to be a charity event, it will defeat the purpose if we spend for anything to have it done. Today, God has answered our prayer! A new friend I met on Facebook offered her place for us to hold the Art Exhibit. How encouraging it is to know that somewhere out there, someone heard God's whispers and directs her to us. Salamat Leia Mae, for being an angel to us. May you be blessed even more!

April 11, 2016 notebook pledges update

On our 7th day of campaign we have already reached 3,625 notebook pledges! The overwhelming support of our beloved donors, the way that they are being moved and inspired by this simple act of kindness for our children in need keep and sustain us in this mission.

Who We Are

We are a small group of private citizens who dream of a better Philippines and better world, by helping poor children fulfill their own simple dreams, too. When we were young, we too struggled with just a few pieces of notebooks just so we could attend school. Some of us had to walk many kilometers to school, on barefoot, under the heat of the sun, or get wet in the rain. There is so much promise each child brings. We know that a simple act of kindness could make them reach miles and miles in their journey. In our notebook distribution project, we have been moved by how children would hold on to their eight pieces of notebooks like their life depended on them. You can't help but be inspired to do something so much more for these future citizens.

2,180 and counting!

This is God's show of force! We only targeted 200 notebook pledges per day, but since our first day of campaign last Monday, we now have 2,180 in our list. What overwhelms us is the fact that most of these donors do not just pledge their support but actually volunteer to gather more notebooks from their own circles. Ambit is creating a ripple effect, an epidemic of kindness, concern and compassion that are not just spoken but ACTUALIZED. Thank you very much to you our beloved donors. As steward of your gift our children, we commit ourselves to making sure your kindness is multiplied. 

What Can a Child Do for Others?

Gabriel is 10 years old and this particular summer would be extra special for him because there's no out of town trips, vacations, outings. Aside from being a child volunteer for Ambit where he usually gets assigned reading stories to children beneficiaries in our adopted villages, Gabriel takes joy in doing his part in the notebook drive. Right now, he is dedicating his time doing his paintings for his first ever painting exhibit. He wanted to help donate notebooks for Ambit and he thought of using his talent in raising funds for the less fortunate children in Sipalay and Hinobaan. May he be an inspiration to us.

1,274 notebook pledges on our 3rd day!

Only on our 3rd day of campaigning for notebooks and we already gathered 1, 274 notebook pledges. What consolation for our Ambit volunteers who take it upon themselves to take part and actualize love. This is what keeps us going. Salamat and cheers to all!

100 notebooks from an OFW in Hong Kong
